Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain excess grease.
Season beef mixture with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in shredded cheese (if using).
On a lightly floured surface, unfold thawed puff pastry sheet. Cut into even squares or rectangles.
Place a spoonful of beef mixture onto each pastry square.
Fold pastry over filling, forming a triangle or rectangle. Crimp edges with a fork to seal.
Place puff rolls on the prepared baking sheet. Brush tops with egg wash (optional) for a golden finish.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until puff pastry is golden brown and puffed up.
