Ingredients
  

Tuna Mixture

  • 2 5 oz cans tuna in water drained
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese sharp cheddar recommended
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise good quality
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 egg

Instructions
 

  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, shredded cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, finely chopped celery, finely chopped onion, Dijon mustard, and egg. Gently mix until just incorporated to avoid tough patties.
  • Shape the mixture into evenly sized patties, about ½ inch thick. Wet your hands slightly to prevent sticking.
  • Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Add a tablespoon of oil or butter. Once heated, carefully place the patties in the skillet.
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Press down lightly with a spatula while cooking for even browning.
  • Remove from the skillet, place on a paper towel for 15 seconds to remove excess oil, and serve immediately.

Notes

Drain the tuna thoroughly to prevent soggy patties. Cook in batches to ensure even browning. Customize with different cheeses, veggies, or spices for variety. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
